Following a highly successful trio of tournaments at Canfield, Wooster and Madison, OhioQuest wrestling is back with five events throughout Ohio this upcoming weekend!
The weekend kicks off on Saturday with the Marlington Fall Open in Alliance Ohio. This tournament is a great option for wrestlers all throughout Northeast Ohio. The event has had around 200 wrestlers the past two years, and based on early registration numbers, an even better turnout is expected this year in both rookie and youth open divisions (which include middle school).
On Sunday, we are back with four events throughout the State:
The Steubenville “Battle for the Belt” kicks off our Belt tournament series this year. Like all belt tournaments, you can count on this event being a blowout with competitors coming in from all over the Ohio Valley, Youngstown, West Virginia and Pennsylvania areas. We will have five full sized mats running and most likely four sessions to ensure that this event runs quickly!
The Chardon Fall Open comes on the heels of the nearby highly successful Madison Fall Open. Proceeds will go to the family of Andrew Bearden, a wrestling coach and member of our wrestling community who tragically lost his life far too early. Events at Chardon have developed a reputation for great competition and being very well run.
The Wellington Youth Open kicks off the season in Lorain County, and is the first event on the “West Side” of Cleveland this year, and is a great choice for wrestlers all throughout Northeast and North Central Ohio. Great turnout is expected in the Rookie, Youth Open and Middle School Divisions, and you can count on this event running lightning fast.
Last but certainly not least, the Maumee Fall Open is the first opportunity for wrestlers in NW Ohio to get a jump on the competition. This tournament is truly for everyone- and features Rookie, Youth Open & Middle School Divisions.

Since the dawn of the sport, the open wrestling tournament has been something of a mixed blessing for the wrestling community. On one hand it represented a great opportunity for wrestlers to develop their skills- on the other hand, usually run by completely "Novice" crews it often turned into a complete disaster. We've all seen and heard the horror stories- tournaments that lasted until 10 p.m. at night, ridiculously compiled brackets, events that started hours late and were marked by complete chaos.
Enter OhioQuest Wrestling. Having run nearly 1000 tournaments in 18 years, we have the system down cold. We will always respect your time and make sure you get the mat time you are looking for. We run with precision- hitting our marks for our start times like clockwork, and we run FAST. Gone are the ten hour marathons. Expect to complete your wrestler's bracket in 90 minutes. We assume that you have other things to do besides be in a gym all day!
If you are interested in hosting a tournament anywhere in Ohio, do not hesitate to reach out to us. We will handle virtually all aspects of the event, making it easy for your school. Contact us at wrestlingquest@gmail.com to receive more information.
